The Secrets of Tarot: Beyond Fortune Telling
Library Program

Many people are familiar with tarot cards, yet few understand their rich history or their original purpose. Contrary to popular belief, tarot was not created to predict the future. Long before modern fortune telling became associated with the cards, ancient cultures used symbols, imagery, and intuitive practices to gain insight, develop self-awareness, and strengthen their connection to inner wisdom.
In this fascinating and interactive presentation, author, educator, and registered nurse Sydney Sherman explores the origins of tarot, common misconceptions surrounding the cards, and the difference between traditional card reading and intuitive interpretation. Participants will discover how symbols, intuition, and personal awareness can work together to provide guidance, inspiration, and a deeper understanding of life’s challenges and opportunities.
The program includes demonstrations, audience participation, and practical exercises designed to help attendees better understand intuitive communication and symbolic interpretation. Whether you are completely new to tarot or have worked with cards for years, this presentation offers a fresh perspective on one of the world’s most enduring tools for personal insight.

Whether you approach the topic from a spiritual, historical, or simply curious perspective, this program offers an engaging exploration of the possibility that our story may extend beyond a single lifetime.
The Transition
Library Program

What truly happens to the body and mind at the moment of death? This question has fascinated humanity for centuries, yet many aspects of the dying process remain misunderstood.
In this thought-provoking presentation, Sydney Sherman, RN, explores the biological, emotional, and energetic changes that often occur before, during, and immediately following death. Drawing on years of study in thanatology, end-of-life awareness, and patient care, she explains the common patterns that frequently emerge regardless of the cause of death.
The dying process is examined through three phases: preparation, the actual death experience, and the transition that follows. Participants will learn about the physical and behavioral changes often observed during each stage, how loved ones can recognize these signs, and ways to provide comfort and support during this important time.
This program offers a compassionate perspective that helps families better understand the natural dying process, reduce fear, and find peace, healing, and meaning during life’s final transition.
